A LETTER TO OUR FAMILIES
Dear Families,
I hope this finds you well and looking forward to another fun and rewarding lacrosse season!
We are thrilled to share exciting news about the continued growth of youth lacrosse in our area. Thanks to the incredible support from families like yours, we are seeing strong interest in expanding opportunities for players by exploring the creation of two new programs: Notre Dame Academy (Future Tritons) Youth Lacrosse and De Pere Youth Lacrosse.
This exciting development reflects the growing passion for the sport and our shared goal of growing the game in WI and better supporting our local high school programs. By better aligning youth teams more closely with high schools, we can provide even more tailored experiences, stronger community connections, and enhanced development pathways for our young athletes.
Here’s what this means for the upcoming seasons:
-This year (2026), the new NDA and De Pere programs are actively gathering interest. NDA is partnering with GBYL this season, De Pere is working to determine if they can launch select age groups as early as this spring. De Pere has set a cutoff date of February 22, 2026, to assess registration numbers and confirm viability for the current season.
-Regardless of whether they launch limited groups this year, the plan is to fully establish all three independent programs starting at the conclusion of the 2026 season, giving everyone time to prepare for an even stronger 2027 season.
In the meantime, we want to make this transition as smooth and flexible as possible:
-All players should register as usual with the Green Bay Youth Lacrosse Association for the 2026 season.
-During registration, families will have the option to indicate interest in the NDA or De Pere programs. This will help us accurately gauge numbers and communicate updates directly to interested families. If GBYL has enough players for two teams in any age group, players will be grouped by their respective future program to below with a smooth transition next year.
-If De Pere is only able to field teams in certain age ranges this year, players in other age groups are warmly welcomed to join the Green Bay Youth Lacrosse program—we’ll ensure every child has a great place to play!
This growth is truly something to celebrate. It means more kids will have access to high-quality lacrosse, closer to home, with programming designed to feed directly into their future high school teams. We’re incredibly grateful for your continued enthusiasm and support, which has made this expansion possible.
If you have any questions or would like more details, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help make this transition exciting and seamless for everyone.
Thank you for being part of our lacrosse family—we can’t wait to see our players on the field this spring!
Best regards,
